Ride Experimentation - ArtRage 6/Affinity Designer - Surface Studio. Totally NSFW

The work below is NSFW (Not Safe For Work). Please do not continue if you're at work and/or are sensitive to adult themes.

After finishing up some other projects time was taken to digitally paint the last drawing created in 2019. Initially I was going to continue with Rebelle 3 for this leg of the journey but decided to go with ArtRage 6 instead. Rebelle 3 and ArtRage 6 work really well together complimenting each other nicely. The texture in this project for example, is a combination of a Rebelle 3 canvas and a ArtRage 6 modified pencil set as well as a ArtRage canvas. One didn't overpower the other and everything just worked well together. Of course, the wrong combination can cause a hot mess but some thought has to be given on which tools/canvases to use for the best results. No different than digital music, the best results are usually created when the creator has actual artistic talent. The computer is still just a tool at the end of the day.

This is the final color render created using oil paints and the palette knife in ArtRage 6. The original pencil work was left intact being used as a guide and to maintain a greater feel of texture in the piece. Below is the original drawing for the uninitiated.

As mentioned in a previous post, this project was created for a erotic art community. It's a great place to share adult work and kinky ideas that would otherwise violate the TOS (terms of service) of other social media platforms. It also can bypass people with delicate sensibilities that freak out over seeing the nude form or anything that even remotely suggests physical pleasure. The human race is so evolved in the 21st century, yeah? We praise video games like Call of Duty that tasks the player to brutally murder everyone they see but the sight of a nipple, breasts or penis are the crimes of the century. But I digress.

After finishing the color render, experimentation continued in Affinity Designer which is my default application for adding any text or vector elements (in combination with Affinity Publisher). While in Designer, this version of the project was created in a couple of hours...

I really liked the tone of the piece after experimenting with the color palette in Affinity Designer so I ran with that even though it's darker than the original color render. 60's color schemes and design language has become a favorite for me over the last few months so I ran with that too. The "Really?" title is from a BDSM themed magazine cover for the same erotic art community that was also created using Affinity Designer in 2019.

Creating this was a lot of fun and a good test. Some mental gymnastics was needed at times to find better ways to create various effects and renderings but this is the way we gain more knowledge. I always appreciate the challenge.
