Sketch Sessions 91118 - Totally NSFW

Sleeping #2, safer for work version, created using ArtRage 5 on a Surface Studio.

This image is part of a series being created for a art community on an alternative lifestyles website. The facets and cross-hatching technique hasn't been used in some time so I decided to use it here. For the uninitiated, this means that the entire project is drawn using lines and facets (to simulate three dimensional shape) to give depth to the forms in the project, no smearing or smudging of pencil lines. It's a very time consuming process that requires a lot of focus and a great deal of control but I've always liked the results of it especially using the technique in ArtRage due to its quality canvas types.

The original consideration was to complete this using Krita 4 but the annoying lack of touch screen canvas rotation put the kibosh on that idea and caused all immediate projects for Krita 4 to be put on indefinite hold. Yes, the lack of canvas rotation is that big of a deal which was demonstrated in 20 seconds after going back to ArtRage 5 which supports the feature by default.

Sleeping #2, full version.

There are a wealth of pencil types and options to customize pencils in ArtRage 5 but I decided to use the default pencil with a small adjustment to pressure, which then felt very much like a 3H or 4H pencil. This allowed the creation of a very thin line that worked really well over the textured canvas chosen for this project.
